Professor Jim LaBate, who works in the Writing Center, will be at Market Block Books in Troy on Saturday, June 8 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. to sign copies of his newest book, “Writing Is Hard: A Collection of Over 100 Essays.”
These essays were written specifically for first-year college students, but they are also appropriate for anyone who wants to improve his or her writing. LaBate begins the book with his “10 Commandments of Writing” and continues with chapters on other aspects of writing such as punctuation and grammar, the key parts of an essay, research, plagiarism, and literary techniques, among others.
Market Block Books is located at 290 River St. in downtown Troy, right near the Troy Waterfront Farmers’ Market.
